Are You Totally Committed to Scrapping the Top Rate of Tax?
I've committed to the triple lock. That means that pensions are rising in lockstep with inflation. Are you absolutely committed to abolishing a 45-pens tax rate for the wealthiest people in the country? Yes. It is part of an overall package of making our tax system simpler and lower. But at what top rate is National Insurance, the 45P rate actually raises very little. And we need to move away from the idea that everything is about how we redistribute resources.
