How to Soundproof a Room

There are a couple of different measuring systems to determine how soundproofed a room is and they may or may not be useful to you if you are trying to do something like create a recording studio. In the United States we typically use something called the sound transmission class to explain how soundproofing a room is. That's really a measurement of how well sound within the ranges of human voices travels through walls. So sounds outside of those frequencies it sound transmission class isn't concerned with because it's really about building walls so that sound doesn't pass.
