Gene and Eunice weren't the only ones to have a hit with Kokomo. The song became the subject of almost a feeding frenzy of cover versions. No one could be bothered keeping track of which version of Kokomo, it was, that was played on the radio or on a jukebox. As far as the public were concerned, it was allOne record ended up going to number six on the R&B chart.
