AI and the Future of Economics

The academic macroeconomists, they might disagree, but my characterization would be they're not really about explaining what happens in the macroeconomy more. Their focus has become, can we write down a set of internally consistent models and talk to each other about those models? So I think, AI will begin to transform this little corner of economics. And there's going to be people ringing hands and getting upset because we don't understand what the models are, but they seem to work.
