George Lucas' Secret Weapon

George Lucas did not hire Marshall to work on Star Wars. But he eventually asked her to replace one of the editors and she also helped with story elements as George was writing. She suggested that Obi-Wan Kenobi died at the hands of Darth Vader, which is hugely emotional and impactful moment for audience and obviously for Luke. For her work on this film, she won the 1978 Best Editing Academy Award along with two other editors - sometimes called George Lucas's quote, secret weapon.
