The Importance of Mentorship in Software Engineering
There is this guild mentality that some people have around, you know, I have a CS degree and it should be hard. Not everyone who tackles tickets wants to be a mentor. There are plenty of need for you to show up and be someone who is kind and friendly and nurturing as a software engineer. But we don't see that part of the community anymore. We're seeing like the individual loan genius developer mindset. And there's no known genius in Python agenda. If they were a jerk, they wouldn't have had people help them out. Django was built on collaboration. It wasn't. Well, Django, Django, especially. Even the 10x developers aren't effective any more.
