A Brief History of the Shinsengumi

Most of the Shinsengumi were killed in the subsequent Boshen War of 1868. The remaining members either died fighting or surrendered to the forces of the newly formed Imperial Japanese Army. And yet they are famous, honestly, it's kind of amazing to me how many people have heard of theShinsengumi even if they are not particularly interested in this period of Japanese history.
