CHAPTER

The Importance of Open Peer Review

Nature policy is that reviewers do have the option of signing their reports if they feel comfortable doing so. So would deanonymizing or publishing these encourage people to play nice? I think it's absolutely important that such issues are discussed, because only by doing so will we potentiallyraise awareness of what is and isn't acceptable behavior. Something that mina and karl both agree on is the importance of an open discussion about issues like these. It helps foster a culture of respect that ultimately makes science a nicer, more inclusive place to work.
