i found your smart home section really interesting, because you talked about how these smart appliances could be creating this kind of business model. And i don't know if we'll ever quite reach time where you get afree refrigerator, as long as you just kind of, like constantly give the data. That's the kind of inpoint. We've seen some legal instances or battles already where, for example, whirlpool, which is an american based appliance manufacture, try to bring a fair trade complaint against south korean appliance manufactures.

Paris Marx is joined by Jathan Sadowski to discuss the politics of smart technology, how it enables powerful actors to further control the population, and why we should be more comfortable dismantling technologies that don’t serve the public good.

Jathan Sadowski is the author of “Too Smart: How Digital Capitalism is Extracting Data, Controlling Our Lives, and Taking Over the World” and a Research Fellow in the Emerging Technologies Research Lab at Monash University.
