Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health

Elrond Hubbard wrote Dianetics in 1950, sold it as a science. The IRS yanked his tax exempt status in 1967. He still didn't pay taxes. By the 80s, they had such a huge tax bill that they either had to get taxes or disappear. They intimidated the IRS into giving them tax-exempt status in 1993. And many people since then have sued if they're not protected by law.
