What's Happening When a Photon Is Omitted?

Photons are emitted by transcisions from one energy level to another. In the case of hydrogen, thereare famous, named transitions like the so called liman alpha lines. So when you have an ordinary atom that's been sort of thermally excited by just increasing its temperature, the the omission of photons is this spontaneous omission of photons. But it's a little trickier than that, and this is where i gut, if i can explain es i please with myself, ok?
