Matwater uses an alarm clock to keep himself in touch with his sleep. He describes the architecture of that sleep, and how it varies from person to person. Matwater says he usually falls asleep between 10 30 and 7:30pm. His heart rate starts to drop as he goes into non-rem sleep - a state where brain activity slows down.
