The National Academies' Overestimation of Chronic Pain
The National Academies received 70% of its funding from the federal government. They should not be allowed to take additional funding from families that own pharmaceutical companies and have a financial interest in being drug pushers, Jankowski says. The group's 2011 report overestimated significantly overestimated how many Americans were dealing with chronic pain. That figure was later found to be significantly inflated.
