Is the Market Taking It All Away?

We are definitely not living in an age in which markets serve us, or at least can be counted upon to serve us. It's probably the most seductive loss of freedom ever, isn't it? Because it's providing us with everything we want in the most idictive ways. And all those virt tues that used to exist in traditional societies seem to have been taken away. We don't need them any more. But surely we still do need certain virtues, and we may well be being corrupted by a lot of this current marketing.
