Why He Chose a Dummy Shoot for His Reserve Shoot

Any experienced hobbyist or civilian skydiver would probably be able to tell that that was a dummy shoot. My other idea of why he has a military background is when he chooses the dummy shoot. And in the military, maybe the training shoots don't have the same symbols or whatever to show you that it's a training shoot. So I wonder if that played a factor in why he chose this dummy shoot for his reserve shoot. Because he should have known, he should have figured that out. He had the time to look at it and know he was strapping on his body. But everyone else says he doesn't know what he was doing. And that's why he didn't.
