The Contagious Sensation of Understanding
Steve Stuva has studied the contagious sense of understanding among people who believe the earth is flat. Eclipses are a big problem for the Flat Earth theory, and he was explaining how it's possible to have eclipses with a Flat Earth theory. He saw this sort of dawning realization that people realized they had no clue what an eclipse would look like from Earth under different theories. "We don't have to rely on other people to think that we are self-understood," says Stuva.
