In order to be good, such a person must have charity. And in order to be devout, he or she must have beyond charity,. A great vigor and readiness to perform deeds flowing from this divine love. The newly healed sinner slowly plods along following God's commands as he or she trudges forward toward devotion. Then, becoming truly devout, he is like a man fully healed. No longer does he merely walk, he runs and leaps along the way of God's commandments.
