The Disadvantages of Living in a Traditional Home

In China, honoring your ancestors is integral to many people's lives. My wife and I visited her grandmother in a traditional home that was built in the 1950s or 60s. She had two of these side by side on the same small parcel of land; she lived alone at the time. There was an altar to her past husband with candles next to it and incense sometimes burning. In Buddhism, you chant and say things like nama, ami tofu over and over again. And my wife even set up an electronic solar panel ran chanting box.
