The Unusual Story of an Ulster Defence Regiment Soldier
Five bombs exploded in the centre of Derry last night damaging a bakery, a petrol station and a building contractor. A 15 round burst of machine gun fire was then aimed at the camp but again luckily there were no casualties. I remember one time in Don Gallin, we were in this restaurant and Don Gallin was heavily bombed. There's a really unusual story then about an Ulster defence regiment soldier who fired three shots from a pistol through himself and the ground. And then, this is the next story beside it then. This is all the same day, don't forget. 1973. It's just a catalogue of mayhem. The headline right under this is Five Bomb, Las and Derry
