The Desire of the World

The character never really gets what he wants, but he does get what he needs. He doesn't get the acolades that he desires of being this great jimmer. But at the end of the film, we see that he's transformed himself from wanting to be a great drummer to actually being agreat drummer. It's not about the acoletes any more. It's about the actualization of the beat. And it's a desire that the audience experiences as witnessingth the further complexification of the universe.
