The Puritans and the Human Pig Hybrid
The Puritans believed that the act of bestiality lowered a human being into the animal world. In 1835, a New York surgeon named Dr. Richard Kissum successfully transplanted the cornea of a pig into a young man who, for a short time, actually regained his sight. Since the 1960s, pig heart valves have been used as an acceptable replacement for those in need of a transplant.
