EPISODE 77: Bruce Lee (Part 1)

History on Fire

CHAPTER

Bruce Lee's Life in Hong Kong

Hong Kong in 1950s was the pressed place. Hardly anyone possessed guns, so most fights were hand-to-hand or with knives. A simmering ethnic slash class rivalry between Chinese boys and British boys from a nearby school often reached the boiling point where fights are happening. He would say, kids there have nothing to look for or work to. The white kids have all the best jobs and the rest of us have to work for them. That's why most of the kids become punks. Life in Hong Kong is so bad, kids in slums can never get out.
