James Bailey was the brother-in-law of Thomas Putnam, Jr., grandson of Old John. But he proved to be much less religious and strict than they'd hoped. George Burroughs represented an attempt to bridge the gap between Salem village and Salem town. Dayodat Lawson tried to manage the situation as any good minister might,. but he failed to help smooth things over.
