The White House's Response to Keating

Keating received intelligence from within high echelons of the Pentagon itself. What lends credence to the idea that Pentagon officials helped Keating is the clandestine assistance they also gave Senator Strom Thurman. The thrust of these leaks was that McNamara and other upper echelon officials in the Kennedy administration were misinterpreting intelligence information, constantly underestimating the communist threat,. including that posed by Cuba.
