Credential Inflation
The effect of education on your career is largely like that. If one more person gets another degree, that person likely gets a better job. But if the entire society gets an additional degree, employers jack up the requirements for not having yheir application thrown in the trash. There is a great phrase for this e so it's sometime's called credential inflation. So just like with regular inflation, one person yell, government prints off a pile of money and gives it to me, i'm rich. The change was not actually worth while for anybody.
