The History of the Saka

The Saka were pushed into Bactria, perhaps being the responsible party for the destruction of the Greco-Bactrian city at Aikanum. It appears that they moved west directly towards the Parthian Empire, first battling Mithridates the first and his son, Fratis II. With expansion into the Iranian Plateau no longer an option, the Saka decided to turn back to the east. As far as we can tell, they did not challenge the Ueshi, but instead decided to set their sights on the now divided Indo-Greek kingdoms. By roughly the year 85, a Saka chieftain named Mauis, or Moga, led an invasion
