The Primacy of the Exodus in the New Testament
Irenaeus wrote a shortish book which John translates called On the Apostolic Preaching. It's very, very significant, apart from its brilliance, because it is Irenaeus's summary of the Gospel. He alludes everywhere to the New Testament but he doesn't use any New Testament Scriptures. They're all quite, unquote, Old Testament Scriptures. So it appears that even at 170 AD there was something about Israel's Scriptures that was primary where they saw all the Gospel there.
