The Journey to Hell and Back by Steve Dempster

Moses has taken us on a journey from creation through the fall down to the patriarchs where God promised that he's going to rework and rebuild this creation. Numbers is meant to be this transition book that takes you from Sinai to the promised land. Instead, what we find is Israel rebelling against the Lord, refusing to trust his promises. And the result is kind of judgment and death over the course of 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.
