The Practice of Speech Is Absolutely Essential

I think there's something very, very important about how we talk about each other. We can literally put poison into community by talking about people in ways that are gossipy and unnecessary. There's this lovely little palli sita in which the Buddha says, do not undermine either yourself or another in speaking. So I think speech is absolutely key. And of course by speech I also mean other forms of communication.
