The Heart of Philosophy of Mathematics

The heart of philosophy of mathematics is to understand mathematical progress in light of these difficult questions. We can calculate 1 plus 1 equals 2 and all sorts of complicated integrals in multiple dimensions without knowing the answers about what it is we are doing. How do we reconcile that? It's amazing to me that we can do math without knowing these things, right?
