The Chicago Gun Trace Report: Where Are Chicago's Guns Coming From?
Mayor Rahm Emanuel commissioned a study to answer the question of where Chicago's guns were coming from. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had long been barred from doing so based on laws that were literally written and driven through Congress by the National Rifle Association. Between 2013 and 2016, according to the Gun Trace report, nearly 7% of all the seized illegal guns in Chicago came from one store. More than 5% of Chicago's illegal guns come from Mississippi.
