The Benefits of a Free Book Festival
I'm at the Bay Area Book Festival and other festivals mostly in the capacity of publisher rather than author or interviewer or panelist sometimes. This year's festival was a totally free event and so we saw some different things as a result, including notably more people,. More young people, more families and more diversity in general. And that really was the goal for us in making the festival free in the first place.
