In exchange, they persuaded people at the top of justice department not to pursue felony charges against pedu. A deal was cut in which these executives would plead guilty to misdemeanours. There would be assessed fines, though predou would pay those fines, and actually pay them even more than that for their trouble. As a result, perdu doubled down on its behaviour. And all sorts of other companies entered the market to do exactly what perdu was doing. So it was like, you know, game on. The sacklers have kept a fantastic amount of money.
