The Stoics and the Pursuit of Happiness
The Stoics think happiness comes to the human person through internal appropriation of virtue. The Epicureans believe all good else on the outside can be married for tomorrow, we die. Augustine finds these accounts wanting in those accounts and then thinks that Christ supplies it.
