People i knew personally, friends acquaintances, were seized from their homes at night. I watched troops beat people as they dragged them from the streets into tracks. Vidios showed soldiers shooting teen ages in the head. In parts of yangon, dozens of protesters were killed in one day. As the death toll rose more and more people i knew were arrested or forced into hiding. And rumours of a crackdown on foreign media grew. Defection from the army in mama brings with it the highest penalties. If you defected during the time i was on the front line, you'll be in prison for at least 20 years.
