Cricket was Rory's first love and he dedicated his teenage years to pursuing professional cricket. His research focus became elite athlete well-being, how do we optimize that relationship between well-being and performance? He saw friends who were competing in the 2012 Olympics return home with mental health challenges as a almost a consequence of pursuing their Olympic dream. That really got him interested in how can we do a better job at preparing aspiring athletes to thrive in those environments.
