Kushla is a young teacher in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. Delighted to discover she's not as posh as she first thought, and that her family isn't so bad after all. The book has many telltale signs of class: accent, education, even language. Did you want people to see there was more than just Catholic and Protestant here? I think maybe I probably didn't have the vocabulary for us, but it was possibly because of the type of place that we lived in.
