BDCs can't invest more than 5% of their assets in any single security. The Van Eck BDC income ETF has $650 million in assets. It's seeking to match the performance of the MVISUS Business Development Companies Index. Longer term, even though BDCs are investing in riskier companies, startups like private equity-type firms, they have generated solid returns.
