"I just don't think we were ever meant to have this kind of lens into other people's lives that we do," he says. Apple is in the business of selling a luxury good where status is gained by having the latest item and using it a lot, not to make your life better, but merely to gain a certain kind of status. "As somebody who has purchased more than 150 Macs in his career ... I'm sort of bereft because there's no place good for me to go."
