I covered the military for decades, wrote two books about the war in Iraq. I also covered US military operations in Somalia, Bosnia, Haiti, Kosovo, Korea, Afghanistan. Fundamentally, though, for me, the core of all that work was somewhat tragic. So it was a real pleasure for me to finally turn to what I call the title, a good war,. Good people doing good things to make this country a better place.
