I think there's a sense of contempt for the public that they are ostensibly supposed to be serving and attracting eyeballs from. And there's also asense of contempt from other category, four other categories of elites, particularly in government, but also in big business too. The ring of truth is loud to my ears because what does someone who exudes contempt do or like? I would say, degradation of liberalism. It ain't fun, man.
