How to Structure Research to Support an Organization

At a junior level, I'm more listening out for road mapping to me. How do you balance the many tasks that you might be assigned? And of course, what sort of impact and at what level did the research you were involved in have for the organization, for the product, et cetera? A big piece of that is really around how have you positioned research such that people can find value in it?
