The Discomfort of Homesteading
"There is discomfort and there is laboring for a day," he says. "It's hard fucking labor in a way that you've had the comfort of doing much easier previously with power tools." The only reason they were able to stay on their homestead was by hiring someone to look after it every day, which cost them 200 bucks per week. He now wants to go backpacking but can't imagine what his travel bill would be if he did so.
