Back in the day, you wanted to watch season one of the Sopranos. You have to go and buy the DVD set. And that thing was like $100. It cost HBO basically nothing to make. Those were seen as collector items. I did not appreciate the extent to which the DVD business crossed subsidized this kind of innovative leap of faith.
