Academic Slavery Is the Only Way to Get a Career in Academics
If you want to buy an article from an academic journal, you pay $40 to have one-time access. It doesn't cost the journal anything. They're just putting up a PDF. All of the work is done by essentially academic slave labor. I sleep much better at night knowing that academic publishers aren't making money from my slave labor. But their prices just continue to go up and they still don't pay the writers and the editors. And it's the only way that you can get a career in academia. You know, thankfully enough, you know, more than as a university professor,. which is what really matters because I don't work for free anymore.
