Ferriss: I've been an independent consultant and in the gig economy for over a decade at this point. The genesis of this particular two-volume collection, the Art of Gig, is actually a long short story. It was basically an absurdist fantasy fiction about the world of consulting where I pretended to be a consultant. And it didn't feel like I fit with my mainstream blogging and writing. So I decided to stop the newsletter and eventually put together at least some nonfiction bits that came from these books.
