The Art of Historical Fiction
The book is exhaustively researched. It does something that a lot of these stories miss the mark on gods of deception, humanizes what could have otherwise been a reciting of of time lines and events. That's one of the things that hooked me at the beginning. You know, if we weren't talking russia, i'd be more comfortable saying a matroshka dolls nested in the narrative. So when i don't want to spoil this too much, i think people should experience this on their own.
