A Brief History of the Battle of Samar
On september 20, eighth filippino finders on the island of samar ambushed and killed nearly 50 american soldiers. The us Response, led by brigadier general jacob smith, was swift and merciless. Smith's forces swept across samar burning entire villages, destroying crops and killing every rebel they encountered,. real or suspected. A marine major named littleton tony waller had abandoned some of his own men on a sastrous treck through the jungles in samar.
