In the earliest days of the aids pandemic, we didn't know how to know what to do about it. People refused to shake hands was someone with h i v or share any sort of spaces like public rest rooms. We learned that people who use injection drugs could decrease their risk of using a new needle every time by not sharing needles or reusing them. The concept of doing this for h i v is a newer one. It's just talking about sense the two thousand fourish is when we started thinking about entrialing this sort of idea.
