The New Pentecost
The word Pentecost actually means 50th. It is the 50 days after the Passover. And it is the Jewish celebration of God giving the law. By the time he comes back down the mountain, Israel is now worshiping a golden calf. As a result of Israel's idolatry on that day, the text tells us that the angel goes through the people of God and 3000 people die.
